The MAEDS is a self-report measure designed to assess six key symptom clusters central to eating disorders: 1) Depression, 2) Binge Eating, 3) Purgative Behavior, 4) Fear of Fatness, 5) Restrictive Eating, and 6) Avoidance of Forbidden Foods.

This tool is specially useful to evaluate treatment outcomes for anorexia and bulimia nervosa. Its subscales may further inform what approach to take during treatment.
