The DEPS-R is a self-administered questionnaire aimed at identifying disordered eating behaviors in people with type 1 diabetes. Some individuals with type 1 diabetes may misuse insulin to manage their weight, a practice referred to as "diabulimia." This behavior complicates the evaluation of disordered eating because it intersects with both diabetes management and eating disorder symptoms. Additionally, poor blood sugar control can mimic eating disorder symptoms like weight loss and fatigue, making it challenging to differentiate between the two. This screening tool helps in recognizing and distinguishing these behaviors.
