Co-Production

Co-production and co-design involve the active collaboration of researchers, clinicians, and individuals with lived experience of eating disorders in the development of research, services, and interventions. This participatory approach ensures that the perspectives and needs of those affected by eating disorders are central to the design and implementation of solutions. Co-production and co-design foster innovation, enhance the relevance and acceptability of interventions, and empower individuals through active involvement in the research process.

Calling for Advisory Committee - paid roles

Hi everyone,

I was awarded a grant by IgniteED for 2026 with Dr Amy Bannatyne here at Bond University (QLD) to explore the lived experiences of Australian adults who have achieved sustained recovery from an eating disorder, with a particular focus on the maintenance stage — how people stay well over time.

While much research focuses on acute treatment or early recovery, far less is known about what supports long‑term recovery (5+ years). This project aims to address that gap by centring the voices of people who have lived, expert knowledge of sustaining recovery.

We are seeking a small group of recovered eating disorder sufferers to form our advisory group – and we will be remunerating them for their time. More details are here below.
++++++

About the Research Team

This project is led by a multidisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians:
·         Professor Peta Stapleton – Bond University
·         Assistant Professor Amy Bannatyne – Bond University
·         Dr Kerri Gillespie – Mater Research Institute, The University of Queensland
·         Aleshia Ellis – Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service

The team brings together expertise in eating disorder research, clinical practice, qualitative methods, and recovery‑oriented care.

Lived Experience Advisory Group

As part of this project, we are forming a Lived Experience Advisory Group of people with lived experience of sustained recovery. By definition, this is 5+ years.

This is for Australian community only.

Advisory group members will help shape the research from a lived experience perspective. This may include (but not limited to):
·         Co‑designing interview questions
·         Reviewing recruitment and participant materials
·         Providing feedback on early findings
·         Advising on how results are shared with the community

Advisory group members will be reimbursed for their time. You do not need prior research or committee experience to be involved. If you are interested the link to the EOI form to express what parts of this research would be of interest is here.
